       History of Harley Davidson

Born in the late 40s, early 1950s, the movement "BIKER" originally consisted of a few "rebels" who chose the bike as transportation to express their independence and willingness to break ranks. This image Bad Boys they trailed behind them was not spoofed because it was the most real magnet strips among other things, alcohol and fighting.

The America very fond of order, appearance and well-meaning gets scared.

The birth of this sulfur is exactly 4 July 1947, in the small town of Hollister California. This is that after a very wet evening and "animated", backed by a sensationalist press (this was true at that time! ...), The myth of 1% as opposed to marginal 99% of nice bikers became a reality that has fueled many fantasies and participated in the legendary Harley-Davidson.

Though initially it was rather trademarks Englishwomen and more specifically Triumph, which were preferred frames of these savage hordes. But soon, they were replaced by the V-Twin Milwaukee, much more manly in the eyes of these "hardcore bikers".

For several decades, the representation of these noisy bikers dressed in leather and riding Harley-Davidson is imprinted in the collective mind, to become inseparable from the brand. It took a lot of time and will clearly displayed by the new leadership of the company to change the image became oppressive and reductive, without falling into the BMW world and his side "tight ass" bon chic / right kind attached to that mark.

Harley the world has always operated on the "transmission" of whether it is small, former towards newcomers who in turn, if they adhere to the concept of the Biker's Life and Way of life proposed by the Harley, in turn pass the following etc.. This is what is unique in the world of motorcycling (all brands) and that the world is a world of Harley part (no offense to some), not politically correct.

Bikers are a real family, united by the same passion for Liberty, America and V-Twin Harley-Davidson. This is also the definition recognized and accepted by all the Biker: A Harley between his legs with the passion of America (the great outdoors, country music and Rock & Roll, landscapes, pioneers, cowboys and Indians finally all this, even if they are clichés, but not the policy of course) and Freedom in the head. Their image has evolved through generations even if the old myth of the rebel biker still hangs. The current reality does not correspond to that of a wild horde as in the 1950s. All journals dealing with Biker's Life show only Harley-Davidson Bikers and less cartoonish than the mid 20th century.

The Biker modern times is no longer a marginal odds with society, even if this has always fierce desire for independence. Behind beards, tattoos and creating the appearance jackets sometimes disturbing, most often found people very quiet and uneventful. They are civil servants, managers, farmers, merchants, laborers etc ... and they form the bulk of the "gang." Alongside them are the "Rich Urban Bikers" are bankers, lawyers, entrepreneurs are mainly found in the HOG and a handful of "Rich and Famous Bikers" who are famous musicians, F1 drivers, film actors , singers etc ... a motley crew gathered under the badge of "Iron Eagle". But they all share a love of the great outdoors and of course V-Twin Harley-Davidson unites all. This is the transcript to modern times, a childhood dream born in the days of cowboys and Indians. A dream so powerful that it is transmitted from one generation to the point that we just celebrated 110 years of Harley-Davidson, and that it is not ready to stop.

The Latin phrase "Carpe Diem" (quam minimum credula postero) is often adopted in the mid Biker. This phrase from a poem by Horace means "Seize the day now, trusting in you as little as possible tomorrow." While not a symbol?

For many, riding Harley-Davidson is the best way to clearly display their choices and ideas while cultivating their difference by refusing to be "formatted" by the company. Yet if we look more closely, we see that certain elements are used to enter the closed world of Bikers (even if it makes an image d'Epinal): A Harley-Davidson of course, a beard or drooping mustache, tattoos (almost all to the glory of USA and HD) and unconditional respect for the Stars and Stripes. But do not imagine that the mere fact of having a Harley and a jacket patched trade makes you a Biker. These are your peers recognize you and accept you as Biker or not. Badges that adorn the biker jackets are all signs of recognition and belonging, as the colors appear in the clubs back of leather jackets.

What is the significance of the colors?

"Colors" correspond to a "dress code" for specific American Bikers. Clearly the "colors" are originally a sign of belonging to a club "rebel" U.S. Logically these clubs also have formed at a time when, after a slight sprain their innate nationalism (rolling with less expensive bikes like Triumph) they returned and remained faithful for the Harley-Davidson. Hence: "Colors" = Biker (Biker initially living outside the rules of the AMA) and Harley Biker =. QED

And the adoption of "colors" in the sense developed in membership clubs Harley not as exclusive as 1%. Later, with the development of the HD brand in Europe, "panoply HOG" has largely contributed to make disappear the real meaning of "colors", then it provides the back-patches for their members to play the "rebel". Today we even see "bikers" on Japanese display colors and then it gets really caricature. In fact they not only choose to drive on copies of HD but they also grow up wanting to mimicry to look like a biker wearing colors.
We saw bloom in a decade, these so-called Bikers on Japanese motorcycles, Harley bad copies. Should we call Bikers? The question has been asked on numerous occasions. In light of the BIKER single official definition, there will always miss at least something to the motorcycling exotic simply a Harley-Davidson. USA to someone who rolls with a custom Japanese saw saddled with the nickname "RiceBurner (rice burner) or Rider but certainly not Biker. Increasingly, people who were misled understand that the original is necessarily better than a "cheap copy" and they arrive at the Harley-Davidson, to the point that the Japanese customs are virtually unsaleable, nine or occasion, now (just take all the numbers sale by various categories motocistes japs) just reward.

It is always a surprise when you see a driver that displays Japanese patch on his back "Free Biker" meaning "We are freed from the tutelage of the world Harley Biker". This is the right guy to think, but as it should be "ashamed and embarrassed to be" somewhere, even feel the least isolated on his waistcoat he sticks a Patch Harley-Davidson "to believe that ... ". So all the hallmarks of the brand of the bike were erased, hidden by stickers, a painting etc ... Do not be fooled by those bad Ersatz.

Eh! dude, if you're ashamed of your machine, and if you have integrated the term Biker target does, in fact, that the world Harley-Davidson, you go to a Harley., excuse the dough does not because the price of a Japanese equivalent to that of a Sportster or even a Dyna and there you have the total price for your workaround. But please, if you are proud of your Japanese (all tastes are in nature), you remove your patch Harley-Davidson, you get a tattoo in honor of Jap manufacturer, you're going to Fujihama dreaming of you posing the question of why those damn Japanese HD puts top-selling large cubes (+ 400 cm3) on their island and especially you leave the hallmarks of the brand of your bike visible. There a few years back, we withdrew voluntarily or by force, all that could be confusing, some say Jap bikes burned .....

Let us disperse back into the true world Harley-Davidson and its Biker's Life, in which there are mainly three families who live together without ever mix: The Motor Clubs 1%, Harley-Davidson Clubs Associations and in extreme cases, the HOG. Harley-Davidson with this festive and family side, there is very little Bikers Alone.

Club Bikers 1% (Outlaw Motorcycle Club)
The notion of "outlaw motorcycle club" originates from the existence of clubs bikers who do not comply with the standards of the AMA (American Motorcycle Association). The term outlaw motorcycle club was used by a journalist in order to exaggerate problems that occurred in Hollister. These events had a national media coverage in the United States. In response, the President of the AMA stated that only 1% of bikers were troublemakers. Hence the origin of the term of the top 1%, some bikers claim membership today and displayed on the diamond with the inscription 1%.

Later, four main clubs bikers emerged. These were the Hells-Angels, the Pagans, the Bandidos and the Outlaws. The members of these clubs are subject to strict rules. While some live on the margins, others are fully integrated into society.

They wear badges and patches in the colors of their respective clubs, full patch for full membership, if only some patches for Prospects. The colors of the Hells Angels-Red and White (R & W), while the Bandidos colors are red and golden yellow (R & G). The two-Clubs Motorcycles 1% main current, the Hells Angels and the Bandidos, have chapters in many countries, including France.

Their history has been, and is somewhat hectic.

Harley Davidson Clubs

Numerous Harley owners, do not recognize the logic of Motorcycle Clubs HD-1% (see above), then turn back to the associations HD or Harley-Davidson Clubs are much more open and especially less extremes.

Many assos. were open to all customs, but they had to go to the course, it was not easy to live and HD Bikers and drivers japys However, some associations (little) still function as that.

But the majority were closed for associations become HD, so reserved only for owners of HD and machines U.S. (Titan, Buell etc ...)

There are many HD Associations around the world and of course France.

Members are in the back of their vests, Colors. There is no requirement for an association Harley-Davidson, to be part of the Federation of HDC France.

Many meetings are organized by the Harley Davidson Club. Some of these gatherings are by invitation only with HD, so be sure to gather in one place for people who share the same philosophy. Others are called open, accepting all bikes, eg Brescoudos gatherings or Blue Beach Bikers and others I can not mention them all, Sorry!

"Decades before the creation of HOG, many years before the onset of MC structured, HDC French have long been the only ones to wear loud colors of the brand. Alternating good times and periods of decline, the history of these independent groups persisted through the Harley-Davidson Club of France. " (Freeway HS 01/12/2010)

  The Harley Owners Group (H.O.G)

Behind the initials HOG meaning "Harley Owners Group" ie owners of Harley Davidson, we find the most important club brand in the world. Currently, the HOG has 1 million members spread throughout the world. HOG was founded in 1983 to boost sales and strengthen customer relationships. The Hog is a great marketing idea, which allows HD to keep its customers under control with a friendly aspect. This is the direct link with the concession without it causes them to overwork, offices Chapters are volunteers. This association depends directly on the Parent Milwaukee which includes Chapters (local clubs necessarily attached to a concession). HOG was first developed in the USA and outside the borders of 1991 with the creation of HOG Europe.

Each concession can and must have a Chapter that is attached directly

For new Harley in the world, after the purchase of their first machine HOG membership being offered, they adhere to a Chapter that allows a first contact with the world of Harley. But often they do not renew their membership fee becomes after a year. Indeed, the relationship between the Chapter and the dealer, by the Statute of HOG are too intertwined. The Chapter is totally dependent on the dealer. Therefore, some one made the leap to say that the HOG is a pump money destined for the brand, but they are certainly a bit excessive in their assertions. Many Chapters withdraw to create "Free Chapters". They are therefore free from the grip of the dealer, but remain in the bosom of HOG.

HOG chapters have the reputation, rightly or wrongly, to be composed of a majority of the people "Bon Chic - Good Genre - Friques Rich Urban Bikers called" what would feel in the fleet of motorcycles from members in the dress always on top with the latest HD clothes in the amount of contributions, in events organized by the National HOG whose prices are exorbitant and inputs seem not to be related to the services provided. The Hog-Members are responsible for presenting to the non-biker, and an image Soft Upscale brand. To do this, HOG members have a rule of conduct imposed on them with strict adherence to the rules of the road, no delirium, dress and deportment blameless required, compliance with the rules when traveling with Captains Road, , Safe Officer, even now, with fluorescent vests etc ....

This association HOG accept everyone (there is no period of observation), it is enough to be the owner of a HD and pay dues to be a part, applicants are not filtered. It is primarily the reason why many believe that Harleyistes Hog Chapters are not clubs, but simple meetings of interest. Other more extreme even feel that they are not real bikers.

It seemed difficult in the panel presentation Harley, not to mention the Hog-Members. It's like everywhere, everything is not black and white and must always pay attention to the authoritative statements ..
